Visual Identity
Visual designer (2019-2021)

Charitable Impact is a platform for anyone to donate to any registered charity in Canada no matter what cause they choose to support.

In 2019, I was hired on as a visual designer to help develop the rebrand for Charitable Impact and lead the visual identity across all internal deliverables.

This included: illustrations, internal and external documents, stationary, marketing and onboarding materials.

Project Goals

To develop the visual identity and then lead the creation of it across all internal deliverables.

Visual Exploration

A lot of charity’s branding tend to be more serious, with photos depicting older philanthropic people or using somber photos of the causes people should donate to. With my visual exploration, I wanted to create a more joyful approach, utilizing the brand colours and making everything more approachable for our wide range of donors.

After the initial exploration, my team and I collaborated to create the visual direction and then we each broke off to lead and create different pillars of the brand.

Identity in Use

Internal Document Design

I led the rebrand for all internal and external documents. During this redesign, I developed a design system for both typographic and illustrative elements so that it was efficient to create these documents.

Team Member Handbook

One of the biggest projects I tackled was the Team Member Handbook. A 68 page document for our new and current employees to read and refer to in regards to anything and everything Charitable Impact.

Internal Presentation Template

Each week, Charitable Impact’s team members gather for an office wide huddle. At that meeting, one employee presents a spotlight on a different topic related to what they do at Charitable impact. For that, I created a presentation template that was easy for any employee to use.

Stationary Design

There were 3 types of business cards required for Charitable Impact: a set designed for the Board of Directors, a set for the employees, and a set of recruitment business cards. For the employee set, I had the chance to play around and chose 3 bright gradients that were printed with neon ink.

Campaign Design

Charitable Impact started a campaign called the Impact Ambassadors Campaign to satisfy the need for donors who weren’t sure which causes to give to. Impact Ambassadors are engaged and passionate advocates for a particular cause.

Environment Design

The office kitchen was remodelled in 2019 and after it was done, the team wanted to bring some of the brand colours and textures into the new space. I led this project, working with the printer/installer as well as the design team to create these abstract shapes that now fill the walls of the new space.
